Jennifer Lawrence will play Katniss Everdeen in the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games. The Wrap has confirmed that the Winter's Bone actress will play the highly coveted lead role in the movie version of the Suzanne Collins bestselling novel.
Apparently she was offered the role on Tuesday and the studio has been working to close the deal, which was done on Wednesday night, according to someone who knows about it firsthand.
Although we don't have any official confirmation, Lawrence has been the frontrunner for the past week, so we're sure we will hear official confirmation in a matter of days.
Lionsgate plans to make the franchise a trilogy, making all of Collins novels, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay into films.
Lawrence will play Katniss, a girl from one of the poor Districts, set in a futuristic North America, who is sent to complete in an entertaining survival contest. She goes in place of her younger sister and must to survive the brutal games, televised for all to see.
Now, it's time to cast Peeta Mellark! Confirmation should be coming soon as there has been lots of speculation about that role too.
