Prometheus Viral Website Reveals a New Video: What Does it Mean?
by Micah J Gordon at .As viewers who caught the film in its opening weekend try to navigate exactly what everything in Prometheus means, a new viral website and video have come to light, seemingly serving only to add further speculation and mystery to the plot.
Don't worry, we won't include any spoilers, apart from the fact that the clue that leads to the site is hidden in the end credits. A logo for Weyland Industries after the credits specifying the date 10.11.12 lead to the discovery of the viral site WhatIs101112.com. The site is minimal, though it includes a rendering of Nietzche's book Thus Spoke Zarathustra, along with a description of the book and a video, featuring Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland. Check it out:
The video appears to be Weyland psyching himself up for the Prometheus TED talk featured in an earlier viral video. It's a bit hard to hear what he's saying, but it seems to be, “I am a law only for my kind, I am no law for all,” which is a quote from Zarathustra. So what does it all mean? What will happen on October 11? And how does the ubermensch that Nietzche posits as a goal for humanity in Zarathustra come in to play?
Perhaps that date will reveal some important clues about Prometheus, or an announcement for a new film. What do you think will happen? Let us know in the comments, then head over to our Prometheus review for our thoughts on the film.
