Dwayne Johnson Eyeing Lobo: Could the Rock's Comic Book Dreams Come True?
by Micah J Gordon at .Dwayne Johnson took to twitter for a little Q&A session with his fans yesterday, prompting inquiries into rumors that the wrestler-turned-actor may play the DC comic book character Lobo. Johnson replied: "Rumors of me possibly playing Lobo are true. Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun."
Peyton directed Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which came out earlier this year and starred Johnson himself. Peyton is attached to direct the Lobo film, with Silver producing.
Lobo is an ultra-violent alien bounty hunter who toes the line between good and evil. The "anti-hero" character first appeared in comics in 1983, and could potentially be used down the line in an Avengers-style DC superhero team movie (though with The Dark Knight Rises being Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's final collaboration in the series, they may have to find a new Batman).
Johnson has long expressed interest in paying a comic book character, and he may finally get his chance. We'll keep you posted on any updates.
