Weekend Movie Preview: August 17, 2012

The world of the movies belongs to The Expendables 2 this weekend, and everyone else is just looking for scraps. The Sylvester Stallone-starring sequel to the 2010 smash will dominate this weekend and most likely set a box office record while they’re at it. Also landing is the stellar stop motion animated film ParaNorman and the last Whitney Houston film, Sparkle.

The Expendables 2: Stallone brings back Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture and Dolph Lundgren, pumps up the roles of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis and brought along two new action superstars to the mix for the second film: Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Does it work? As we state in our The Expendables 2 review, this adventure rocks.

ParaNorman: The film is mind-blowingly beautiful and artistically drawn, and its greatness does not stop there. A compelling story with a hero that arrives in the form of a young boy who can see ghosts is also merely the beginning. Sparkle: Houston’s final work in the entertainment business lands in theaters. The late superstar plays the mother of a three-girl sister group, led by Jordin Sparks. The film is a remake of a 1970s beloved piece of work. The question is, will audiences turn out to see the legend’s last turn? Sparkle did not screen for critics, look for our review later today.

    3/5Nimm dem Film seine Stars und wir haben einen (etwas aufwendigeren, was man ledeir kaum sieht) 08/15-Film der im Normalfall gleich als DVD/BR im Leih-Regal landet.Und von wegen STARS. Im ganzen Film gibst nur 3 ECHTE. Sly, Arnie und Bruce (Deren Autritt kann man aber kaum ernst nehmen).Jason, Jet (beide kaum 80er) und Rourke kommen noch hin. Bei Dolph is aber echt Schludf. (ein vergessen?)Der ganze Rest ist absolut Austauschbar und NIX-Star. Roberts ist als Bf6sewicht wirklich nur ein Wicht. Die albernen Wrestler sind total albern -was allerdings wieder voll 80er ist .Dazu die billige Story, heute normales CGI-Gemetzel und fertig ist der 08/15er.So. Das war einigermasen Objektiv (?!).Ich sehs aber auch als kleiner FanBoy der mit den alten Helden aufgewachsen ist. Daher ists durchaus ein -kurzer- netter Spadf. Davon darf gern mehr komm. Auch wenn man danach jedesmal 3% seiner Gehirnzellen verliert. (Bleiben ja noch 12 )Voll 80er eben PS: Macht weiter so. Vor allem MACHT MEHR!!!
