Oh, I wish there were still proper thaeetrs here. A few years ago we had a film club that would rent various places and show classic movies (they had a Kubrick marathon a few years ago Barry Lyndon is a seriously underappreciated film) but the movie-going public seems to be content with only seeing the top-grossing Hollywood dreck, so they quit. Now all the thaeetrs are owned by two companies, resulting in very little competition and no alternative thaeetrs. One company has the rights to HP movies, the other gets Twilight (*retch*) and so on. Twice a year this changes, since we have the Green Light festival (showing new alternative films) and RIFF (showing shitty shorts mostly). This year the latter had what I believe was the very first RHPS proper screening, with costumes and throwing stuff and such. Too rare. And I couldnt bloody afford to go. Wah.
