The Guilt Trip Trailer: Barbra Streisand Can't Wait!

by at . Comments

The Guilt Trip, a story about a man on an 8-day roadtrip with his mother, could easily be re-cut as a horror film. But they chose to go the comedy direction. Take a look at the first trailer, from Yahoo! Movies:

Seth Rogen (Superbad) stars as Andy Brewster, an inventor attempting to sell his latest product. He invites his mother, played by Barbra Streisand (Meet the Fockers), along to try to reconnect her with a lost love.

Adam Scott, Yvonne Strahovski, Colin Hanks, Brett Cullen, Casey Wilson, and Dani Pudi also star. Dan Fogelman wrote the script, with Anne Fletcher directing.

The Guilt Trip will premiere December 25. Check out this The Guilt Trip clip to see Andy ask his mom to come with him on the trip.

This is one of those movies with a premise that could be awful, but I think they scored big by casting Streisand and Rogen - I really think their personalities will make for some good laughs, and based on the trailer it looks like they have good natural chemistry. Also, loved that they used "Run With a Knife" by The Left Hands at the beginning of the trailer, I love that song and actually hearing that was what made me pay attention to the ad before realizing what this movie was. Can't wait to see it, my only fear is that they'll focus too much on the Jewish mother stereotypes because they could still make it funny without resorting to that
