The Great Gatsby Trailer Drops: You Can't Repeat the Past

by at . Comments

"You can't repeat the past." An ironic line for a movie adapted from a classic novel that's already had five film adaptations, especially during a restart of that movie's promo campaign after the release got pushed back six months.

But that's all beside the point. The trailer looks pretty awesome regardless (though, fair warning...there's some annoying yelling as part of the soundtrack towards the end). Take a look:

Tobey Maguire stars as Nick Carraway, a Midwestern man who moves to Long Island and becomes enthralled by the extravagant lifestyle of the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained).

Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty), Isla Fisher (Rise of the Guardians), Jason Clarke, Adelaide Clemens, Elizabeth Debicki also star.

Baz Lurhmann directs the film, which will hit theaters May 10, 2013. Also check out these two new character posters, featuring DiCaprio and Mulligan:
