The first trailer for The Smurfs 2 has been released, and it teases one seriously diabolical plan concocted by Gargamel:

In the hopes of stealing the magical Smurfs' essence, this villain will conjure up creatures he calls The Naughties. But he'll need the help of Smurfette to turn this species into actual Smurfs, kidnapping the heroine and turning her… bad?!?

Perish the thought! Watch the preview now and look for Christina Ricci to join the franchise as the voice of Vexi, this new version of the beloved Smurfette. We'll try not to hold it against her.
