The film, based on the first book in the popular young adult series, stars Lily Collins Clary Fray. When her mother, played by Lena Headey, is kidnapped, she solicits the help of a group of half-human, half-hangel warriors called Shadowhunters.

Aidan Turner (The Hobbit), Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jared Harris (Lincoln), and Kevin Durand also star.

Harald Zwart directs the film, which will hit theaters August 23. In the meantime, check out some more The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones stills.
