We’ve heard rumblings that Legendary Pictures (Man of Steel) was leaving its comfy confines of Warner Bros. to the perceived greener pastures of Universal. Now, it appears that the move is for real as Warner Bros. has let go of the Jeff Bridges-starring Seventh Son and it has found a new home at Universal Studios.
As teased in the Seventh Son trailer, Bridges stars as a medieval battler of witches, and it was set to be released January 17. Heck Jeff Bridges talked Seventh Son to Movie Fanatic as part of Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con presentation!
What on earth is going on?
Well, Legendary Pictures has sought to expand its world, and with moving to Universal, it adds a huge element: Television. Universal is part of the NBC family, and as such, the film studio that also gave us The Dark Knight trilogy at Warner’s, can now push their product in a multitude of possible directions.
The writing was on the wall. Just a few days ago, Legendary announced that it would not be a partner in the Man of Steel sequel coming from Zack Snyder.
Now, where does that put Seventh Son? Universal says it will act as the film’s distributor and we can expect to see the action flick sometime in 2014, we just don’t know when.
