As opposed to the Dwayne Johnson-starring Hercules, the Kellan Lutz-starring Hercules: The Legend Begins is an origins story.
As we saw in the Hercules: The Legend Begins teaser, Lutz is a Hercules in search of his true love. The film is directed by Renny Harlin, who is probably best known for his work on Cliffhanger and Die Hard 2.
The footage above premiered at New York Comic-Con and it is a smart move. Given all the social media attention that Johnson has brought his Hercules story, someone from Hercules: The Legend Begins had to do something. And judging by the over three-minute trailer above, they have done just that.
What is fascinating about the first trailer from the film is that despite showing us over three minutes of footage, our star barely utters a word. Harlin shot the film on 3D cameras, and from the feel of the teaser, it looks solid. We’ll see more as the film’s release date gets closer -- which, for right now, is “sometime in 2014.”
