One of our favorite British character actors, Bob Hoskins, has passed away at the age of 71.

The star, best known for his role in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, passed away last night from complications from pneumonia.

Hoskins was a veteran of UK stage, screen and television in the '70s and even started building an international reputation for his unique accent in films such as Mona Lisa and Brazil

But, it was his role in the live action-animated smash hit Who Framed Roger Rabbit that sent his fame through the roof.

He would then go on to star in such films as Super Mario Bros. and the Steven Spielberg-directed Hook, giving a delightful performance as the pirate Smee.

He was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2012 and would retire from acting, but right before that he appeared in the smash hit Snow White and the Huntsman as one of the dwarves. That would be his final performance.

Hoskins will be missed.
