The best movie of 2013 so far, our Stoker review states, is the Nicole Kidman-starring thriller. Kidman is the Stoker matriarch to Mia Wasikowska's daughter, who is living an unnerving life after the death of their husband and father.
Our Sinister review can state wholeheartedly that it is one of the scariest movies we've seen in a decade. Ethan Hawke is a true crime novelist who may just finally be in over his head.
The Possession tries hard to be an updated, Jewish-themed version of The Exorcist. Our review finds The Possession a film filled with solid performances by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick, but utterly missing a fear factor.

I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil.
