Sam Rockwell was born in Daly City, California and made his film debt in the 1989 Clownhouse. Rockwell's career started at a slow pace with small roles in movies such as Last Exit to Brooklyn and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and guest starring roles on television shows like NYPD Blue and Law & Order.
Rockwelll's career began to turn when he played an eccentric man-child in Box of Moon Light in 1996. The size of his roles began to increase as he played a lawn mower that befriends a small girl in Lawn Dogs in 1997 and the villain in The Green Mile opposite Tom Hanks.
Rockwell then went on to have major roles in Galaxy Quest and as the villain in Charlie's Angels. Finally in 2002, Rockwell was cast as the lead in George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
Rockwell has continued to have an impressive career with roles in Matchstick Men, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
