Is this really much of a surprise?
After the enormously successful Avatar, it's no surprise that every subsequent major blockbuster release greenlit by studios will be in 3D. And Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel will be no different.
The current question is whether or not 3D movies will invalidate the age old "PG13 vs. R" question that all studios are burdened by. Let's certainly hope that Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox come to a R-rated conclusion. Let's face it, can it be any other way?
According to Shadow Locked, art director Roger Christian, who worked on the first Alien, told them about the direction Scott might take with a prequel.
He said: "Ridley's doing the next Alien in 3D. Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there's ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I'm hoping he'll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it - everybody."
Christian has not yet confirmed whether he might be involved in the prequel, reuniting him with Ridley Scott.
