Okay, so last week we showed you the Buried teaser poster, which was nothing more than a clever photograph of Ryan Reynolds in a pine box illuminated by a cigarette lighter, to give the impression that he's literally buried under ground. Well, this week, we've got the accompanying teaser trailer to the film, and, well, it's pretty much the same as the poster.
Don't get us wrong, we think the concept of Buried is fantastic, although we're still scratching our heads as to how a 90 minute movie can be interesting when all you have is one guy in a coffin. In case you missed it, here's the official synopsis for Buried:
Paul (Reynolds) is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.
So yeah, the teaser trailer is pretty much what you'd expect- a lot of darkness. We have to hand it to the filmmakers, though, and the marketing team- it's ballsy to not show your product. On the other hand, if the movie is a lot like the trailer, the 90 minute running time could very well be padded out with a lot of black screen. Hey, at least it's cheap to make, right?
Buried hits theaters on October 8.
