George Clooney is Lies Low in Italy in The American Trailer

by at . Comments

Sometimes, George Clooney just needs to get away from it all. If you were Clooney, you'd need a break, too. Things are no different for the world's most eligible bachelor in The American.

In the suspense thriller, opening September 1st, Jack (Clooney) is a master craftsman who stands alone among assassins. When a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, he vows to his contact Larry (Bruce Altman) that his next assignment will be his last. Jack reports to the Italian countryside, where he holes up in a small town and relishes being away from death for a spell.

The assignment, as specified by a Belgian woman, Mathilde, is in the offing as a weapon is constructed. Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues romance with local woman Clara. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.

Sure, it sounds like every hitman-gone-straight movie, but with Clooney on board, it may be worth it this time. Either way, check out the trailer below, and check back later for more The American pictures!
