First Footage from David Fincher's Animated Adaptation of The Goon!

David Fincher is on a roll. First, the full-length Social Network trailer is a work of art, and now we get to see what he's been up to with The Goon! A new teaser trailer made for the upcoming Comic-Con panel has just hit online, and it affords us the first view of the Eric Powell comic book pages brought to life.

While Fincher is listed as the producer of the project, the new footage clearly bears his mark: it's dark, grimy and greenish. The plot of the original comic series also seems right up his alley:

Based on the cult comic from Dark Horse Entertainment, created by Eric Powell in 1999, the comic follows the adventures of a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for a feared mobster. The stories have a paranormal and comedic edge to them and concern ghosts, zombies, mad scientists and "skunk apes."

The teaser is just a quick snippet of the footage that will debut at Comic-Con on Friday, followed by a panel featuring Fincher and star Paul Giamatti. Take a look at the teaser below, and see a teaser poster for the film in our The Goon pictures gallery!
