The Expendables hasn't even been released yet, and already the film's producers are hard at work on its sequel, hoping to get the green light next week, pending the box office numbers for the first film.
"We all want to do it, we are already working on it and I'm ready to go," said producer Avi Lerner to Filmbeat. "Everyone had such a great time making this. I have done over 350 movies in my life and this is definitely the biggest."
Not so fast, Avi. The continuation of The Expendables saga depends heavily on box office returns, and if there is to be a sequel, the first film must prove successful before any studio will give the go-ahead.
"We will wait until Monday and see what the numbers are like," Lerner continued. "But I am pretty confident right now that we will be back and work is already underway [on the sequel]. Why not? I know everyone in this would like to do another and I know I would."
And that's not all. Apparently plans are in the works to include even more names of action movies past in the next installment, so claims Lerner. "We want to line up even more big names next time round and we are already thinking about who to ask."
