After opening at #1 this weekend with more than $27 million domestically and over $73 million worldwide, it's no surprise that Screen Gems would want to green light another installment to follow Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Milla Jovovich has been very vocal about the possibility of a Resident Evil 5.
Speaking to Vulture on the matter, Jovovich said, “This new Resident Evil is the first one to ever open at number one worldwide. It’s the biggest movie in the franchise. So we’re definitely going to make another one. "
And that's not all. This time Jovovich and her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson, are looking for input from the fans to make the next installment even more crowd-pleasing.
"We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff," Jovovich continued. "So it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process."
While the Resident Evil movies have never been in favor with the critics (just take a look at our Resident Evil: Afterlife review), they have been known to please fans of action and special effects. So what do you say, does the franchise need a fifthe entry, or has it pretty much been mined for all it's worth? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
