This weekend is all about the action/thriller flicks out in wide release. There's also one teenie bopper film coming out in limited release.
The Mechanic: The Mechanic, directed by Simon West, follows a skilled "mechanic", aka a hitman (Stratham), who teaches a young apprentice (Foster) the skills of his trade out of loyalty to his murdered mentor. The catch - the young appretice is the murdered man's son who wants vengeance for the death of his father. It's a remake of the 1972 film of the same name starring Charles Bronson.
The Rite: The Rite stars Anthony Hopkins, Alice Braga and Rutger Hauer. The film, apparently inspired by true events, tells the story of a seminary student who is tasked to attend exorcism school and meets an unorthodox priest who teaches him about the darker side of his faith.
Also out in limited release this weekend is a remake of the Jane Austen novel Sense and Sensibility. Let's just say it is loosely based on the novel. Very loosely.
From Prada to Nada: Two sisters (Alexa Vega and Camilla Belle) learn that life's not all about shopping when they must move to East L.A to live with their aunt after their father dies.
