Red Riding Hood To Premiere At SXSW
by Alyssa Caverley at . CommentsThe South by Southwest Film Festival announced its feature film program on Wednesday. Among the big films is Morgan Spurlock's The Greatest Movie Ever Sold and Catherine Hardwicke's Red Riding Hood.
Red Riding Hood is a remake of the classic fairytale, with a more grown-up twist. The film stars Amanda Seyfried as Valerie, a young woman torn between two men.
As the festival's appeal and influence grows, more films are finding distribution at the festival.
“We’ve generated a lot of excitement—there’s been great buzz, great press, great filmmakers emerging from here,” says SXSW film conference and festival producer Janet Pierson. “Austin is a lot of people’s favorite town. We just keep getting more and more exciting, and people want to be part of it.”
Submissions are up 23% this year, probably because of the national and international buzz the festival has started to receive.
Hardwicke will also appear in Austin, TX to teach a seminar on directing.
