This weekend is a big weekend for movies.  Lots to choose from - both in wide release and limited release, if you live in the bigger cities.

Battle: Los Angeles - The film stars Michelle Rodriquez, Aaron Eckhart, and Bridget Moynahan.  It is based on the 1942 Battle of Los Angeles incident in which a fear enemy attacked later deemed a false alarm caused chaos in the city.

Red Riding Hood - Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family's displeasure.  The village is also dealing with the return of a wolf who has traumatized the villagers.   It stars Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, and Billy Burke. Mars Needs Moms - A young boy named Milo gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away.  The film stars the vocal talents of Seth Green and Joan Cusack.


Jane Eyre - Jane Eyre tells the story of a girl who is sent to work as a governess at a large estate.  She soon learns her employer is hiding a dark secret. Mila Wasikowska stars as Jane Eyre and Michael Fassbender plays Edward Rochester.

Kill the Irishman - The movie is based on the true story of gangster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson) who finds himself as the number one target of one of the most turbulent wars in mafia history - in Cleveland, OH of all places.  Greene survives a series of assassination attempts and becomes a legend in his community.

Black Death - Set during the time of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England, a young monk is tasked with learning the truth about reports of people being brought back to life in a small village.  It is playing in very limited release.
