Weekend Box Office: Pirates Doesn't Disappoint
by Alyssa Caverley at . CommentsThe big story at the box office this weekend is clearly Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It was predicted that it would be huge at both the domestic and international box office and it didn't disappoint.
Pirates brought it $90.1 million domestically for the weekend, but the big news is its performance on the international stage. The fourth pirates flick earned a staggering $256.3 million in 100 foreign markets in five days. It surpassed the previous international record of $236 million from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009.
Bridesmaids also did well this weekend, falling only 19% from its opening weekend to bring in another $21 million, making its grand total $59.5 million in two weeks.
Thor dropped down to third place in its third weekend adding another $15.5 million to its huge $145.5 million total.
