Focus Features announced today that it will begin production this week in the U.K. on its historical picture Hyde Park on Hudson, directed by Roger Mitchell.
Starring Bill Murray and Laura Linney, the film centers on President F.D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor as they host the King and Queen of England in their Hyde Park on Hudson home in upstate New York. It is based on the first-even visit by the monarch to America.
Seen through the eyes of Daisy (Laura Linney), Franklin's cousin and neighbor, the weekend produces a special relationship between the two nations, as well as, an understanding of love and friendship for Daisy.
"Filmgoers will be intrigued by this unique exploration of the all-too-human side of one of history's great men," said Focus CEO James Schamus. "Roger is an actor's director who will guide Bill and Laura through their playing of Richard's script, which beautifully encompasses satire and drama."
The film does not have an official release date, but Focus Features has announced that it will be out in the second half of 2012.
