Weekend Movie Preview: July 15, 2011

This weekend is all about Harry Potter.  So what film would dare try to compete - probably the only one that actually could - Winnie the Pooh!  The bear of very little brain is back and hitting theaters this weekend.

After months of excitement and dread for millions of fans around the world, we now get to see the epic conclusion to the Harry Potter franchise.  What becomes of the boy who lived?  It's time for everything to come together. 

We've been counting down to the Deathly Hallows Part 2 release all week and now the day is finally here.  It's already broken records for the highest selling midnight showing and is bound to break even more as it continues to play in theaters this weekend.

So what are you going to see?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - Harry and his friends prepare for the battle of their lives as they attempt to rid the world of Vodemort once and for all.  They have been on a mission to find Horcruxes - little pieces of Voldemort's soul - in order to fully destroy him.  Find out what happens in the epic conclusion of good vs. evil.

Winnie the Pooh - The bear of very little brand is back for an all new adventure with his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood.  When Pooh finds a note from Christopher Robin saying "Back Soon," his concerned friends decide he has been captured by the "Backson" and must save him from ultimate doom.  Full of Pooh humor and fun, this new take on the our best bear friend will have you cheering!

Also in limited release...

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan - Fox Searchlight presents a look at female friendships in ancient China.  Based on the book by Lisa See, the film explores the notion of Laotang and what that means to women in ancient China, as well as for modern women, in a world where the tradition has disappeared.  Snow Flower and Lily are bound together for eternity through a friendship and a secret language they share on an ancient Chinese fan.  They love each other and support each other through various stages of life and loss.
