Action hero Bruce Willis is in talks to join the sequel to the first G.I. Joe in hopes of portraying the part of General Joe Colton. The character is considered the original “Joe” in G.I. Joe from the legendary story's lexicon.
After it was universally agreed that the first G.I. Joe film missed the mark, producers are hoping the second time is a charm as they ramp up work on the sequel to G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.
Paramount Pictures is pulling out all the stops for the big budget sequel, entitled G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Already cast is Fast Five star Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock. The character of Lady Jane also has its actress -- Adrianne Palicki -- star of the cancelled before it got going Wonder Woman TV series. Now with Willis circling the project, G.I. Joe 2 could find itself with a full-fledged superstar cast.
Jon M. Chu is on board to direct the sequel that will begin shooting in New Orleans at the end of August with a release date of June 29, 2012.
