Tilda Swinton has already earned an Oscar, but is likely to be considered for one again for her role in We Need to Talk About Kevin. As the film’s trailer has debuted, it is astoundingly terrifying how sizzling her performance is in just the couple of minutes of a movie trailer. We Need to Talk About Kevin is based on the book by Lionel Shriver and brought to the screen by the writer-director tandem of Rory Kinnear and Lynne Ramsay.
The story follows what happens when the supposed strong bonds of mother and child are turned over on its head, brutally stomped on and left to rot.
The film, also starring John C. Reilly, premiered at Cannes, played at Fantastic Fest and was shown at Telluride. The buzz has been uniform: This is one powerful piece of cinema. We Need to Talk About Kevin opens in LA and New York City (for Oscar consideration) December 9 and nationwide January 27, 2012.
