Great news for Dragon Tattoo fans everywhere as Sony has announced that it plans to film the second installment in Stieg Larsson’s trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, directed by David Fincher (check out our interview with Fincher), has made roughly $60 million at the box office thus far and will likely make its way to the coveted $100 million mark before it’s done.
“Dragon Tattoo continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book,” a Sony rep said to Entertainment Weekly. “Development continues on the sequel and Steven Zaillian is still working on the script as planned.”
Of course Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara will return, but what is a question mark is whether Fincher will return to helm. Let’s hope so.
