Fresh off the release of a new poster, the latest trailer for The Avengers is here and it is oh so good. The Joss Whedon-written and directed superhero gathering of awesomeness has now given us three looks at what happens when Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye get together to try to save the world.
The epic lands in theaters May 4 and follows Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) efforts to bring the superheroes of the world into the international peacekeeper agency called SHIELD as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki threatens to destroy the planet.
“War has started, and we are hopelessly outgunned,” Fury says in the trailer’s opening moments.
It appears that our superheroes aren’t necessarily game at first when approached about joining SHIELD for “the Avengers initiative.” This is the first we’ve seen of the gang actually coming together and it appears it’s not as easy as Fury asking.
“What if I say no,” Banner says. Later, once convinced to join the Avengers, Banner's feelings still appear muddled. "We're not a team, we're a time bomb."
Later in the trailer, Stark adds his two cents. “I thought I didn’t qualify. Apparently, I’m volatile, self-possessed and don’t play with others.”
We're guessing they see the light! In a word, this trailer is: Awesome!
