A big-screen version of the hit jukebox musical Jersey Boys is being planned, and Jon Favreau is reportedly at the top of the list of possible directors.
Jersey Boys tells the story of the 1960's rock group, The Four Seasons, from the band's inception, to its rise to fame and eventual breakup. Jukebox musicals have been met with immense success in recent years, beginning with the phenomenon that was Mama Mia! Another jukebox musical stage production-turned film, Rock of Ages, is coming out June 15 (view the Rock of Ages trailer for a look).
Favreau, who began his career as an actor, has made a name for himself in the director's chair in the last decade or so. He has directed Elf (check out some Elf quotes), Cowboys and Aliens and the first two Iron Man movies (though he won't be returning for Iron Man 3). Favreau has never directed a musical.
Jersey Boys does not yet have a production schedule or release date.
