Sesame Street Makes its Way to the Big Screen

20th Century Fox is planning a big-screen version of the beloved children's show Sesame Street. Longtime Sesame Street writer Joey Mazzarino will provide the script.

Sesame Street

Two films have already been made featuring the Jim Henson creations. The first, 1985's Follow That Bird, starred John Candy, Dave Thomas, and Chevy Chase. The second, 199's The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, featured Mandy Patinkin.

Shawn Levy, director of the Night at the Museum movies (check out some Night at the Museum 2 quotes), will produce the film. Levy is currently working on a new film, The Internship, which will star the Wedding Crashers team Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson (head to our Wedding Crashers quotes page).

Perhaps Levy's connections to the comedy world will yield some awesome cameos. After the success of Jason Segel's The Muppets last year, the Sesame Street film could prove to be great.
