Producer Adam Shankman has been there since Step Up first sauntered onto the national consciousness in 2006. Step Up Revolution, the fourth film in the series, lands in theaters July 27 and Shankman, along with the film’s director Scott Speer, take Movie Fanatic inside the dance sensation that is sweeping the nation in our exclusive video interview.
Shankman has been integral to what some have called a dance revolution in America. Between his participation as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance and producer of the Step Up movies -- both feed each other with many SYTYCD vets showcased in the Step Up Revolution trailer -- various genres within dance have gotten their spotlight while Shankman watched, worked and made magic across popular culture.
He is a choreographer, actor, producer, dancer, director (Rock of Ages, Hairspray, A Walk to Remember) and along with helmer Speer, they have crafted a dance story with a stellar Step Up Revolution cast that creates so much more spectacle than the run-of-the-mill cinematic dance experience. It is fun and inspiring.
"Those are two words that I like: Fun and inspiring," Shankman said as he heard our reaction to the film.
