Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund star as Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty, two friends who embark on a trip across America. The film, based on the classic novel by Jack Kerouac, has been in development by producer Francis Ford Coppola for decades.

Kristen Stewart (Breaking Dawn Part 2) also stars, along with Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Terrence Howard, Steve Buscemi (Hotel Transylvania), and Amy Adams (Man of Steel).

Brazilian filmmaker Walter Salles directs. On the Road hits theaters December 21.
