Saturday Night Live to Open with Three of the Year's Biggest Movie Stars

by at . Comments

Yes, we here at Movie Fanatic know that Saturday Night Live is a TV show. But, fact is, the show's history is deeply intertwined with movies.

Some giant movie stars, from Bill Murray, to Mike Myers, to Adam Sandler, to Will Ferrell (Anchorman), have sprouted from SNL. And conversely, you're not really considered a bona fide act-OR (capital OR) until you're invited to host SNL.

That fact rings ever-so-true today, as the sketch comedy show announced its first three hosts, two of whom had huge movies this summer, with the other starring in a Fall blockbuster.

The 38th season will open on September 15 with Seth MacFarlane as the host. MacFarlane, best known for creating Family Guy, saw his feature film writing, directing, and acting (or voicing) debut in Ted. Visit our Ted quotes page for a look.

Episode 2 will be hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises), on September 22, with Daniel Craig (Skyfall) hosting episode 3 on October 6. Gordon-Levitt has hosted before, but MacFarlane and Craig will be making their first appearances. How do you think they will fare on the late-night stage? Let us know in the comments section!
