At Any Price director Ramin Bahrani and star Dennis Quaid sat down for an exclusive video interview to talk about their complex and layered new film that also stars Zac Efron. Quaid and his director were clearly impressed with the High School Musical star and the path his career has taken since he broke large.
"There’s a lot of hoopla going around him and he’s handling it very well. Everyone knows him as this heartthrob for what he’s done before, but he’s really a great actor," Quaid said. "He reminds me of James Dean."
The film, teased in the At Any Price trailer, is not solely the story of a farmer father (Quaid) who seeks to have his son (Efron) take over the family business, even if he has dreams of becoming a NASCAR driver. At Any Price is also a morality tale that has Quaid recalling an Arthur Miller classic.
"This was a character unlike any other that I’ve ever played," Quaid added. "We talked about Death of a Salesman before we started shooting."
