Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters lands on Blu-Ray and DVD June 11 (available now on digital download!) and Movie Fanatic got its hands on the red band trailer for the release. The teaser presents some of the footage that has never been seen before and will be available on the home video release.
We met director Tommy Wirkola yesterday (stay tuned for that exclusive!) and his thrill at his unrated director’s cut being available for audiences was palpable. Wirkola promised more thrills and (blood) spills as the unrated version allowed him to go deeper and darker into the world of Hansel and Gretel.
The helmer reported being fascinated with the classic kids’ tale for decades and the above red band trailer gives audiences a tease of his true vision for the Grimm fairy tale.
As teased in the theatrical Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters trailer, the film takes the iconic story and imagines what happened to those two kids that disappeared into the witch's house of candy. The siblings (Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton) grew up to become witch hunters -- as you do when they have terrorized your youth -- and cross the landscape on a mission to wipe them off the map.
We will present more on the Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Blu-Ray and DVD to come, including our exclusive interview with the head of the special effects house responsible for bringing the magic to the screen. And along for the ride is the man who brought Edgar the Troll to life… which was no easy task given the massive real life suit he had to sport for the months long shoot!
