Walt Disney has released a scene from The Lone Ranger that is pivotal in the progression of the relationship between our titular hero and his loyal sidekick, Tonto. See, John Reid (Armie Hammer) and Tonto (Johnny Depp) weren’t always so chummy as we gather from The Lone Ranger trailer.
When Hammer’s John Reid first meets Tonto, he is handcuffed and appears to be under arrest. So, after a long train action sequence that is beyond thrilling… the two find themselves walking the desert. Ever the seeker of justice, Hammer’s character seeks to bring Tonto in -- good luck with that!
Stay with Movie Fanatic for our interviews with The Lone Ranger cast, beginning with Johnny Depp premiering June 28. We’ve seen the film and cannot say much, but we will say this: The chemistry between Depp as Tonto and Hammer as the Lone Ranger is off the charts.
Director Gore Verbinski (The Pirates of the Caribbean movies) has teamed with Depp for the fifth time and they hope their re-imagining of the 1950’s and 1960’s TV cowboy hero will find blockbuster gold with modern audiences.
