For fans of Jane Austen books (and movies such as Pride and Prejudice), could there be any better vacation than the one teased in the first trailer for Austenland? Keri Russell (The Americans) stars as an Austen aficionado who cannot keep her own relationships in tow, because frankly, they can never compare with those found on the pages of her favorite author’s novels.
Russell is a fan who “memorized the first three chapters of Pride and Prejudice” when she was thirteen. So, given that fact, it’s hardly a surprise she finds herself in England where she dives into the experience that is a vacation at a British manor where she gets to live like an Austen heroine for an entire week. And just like the heroines in those iconic novels, she hopes to find love “by the end of the book.”
Austenland also stars Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Seymour and lands in theaters August 16. Since Austen has been adapted into film so many times (and appears on our Top 10 Book Adaptations), it is nice to see a fresh take on her world.
