The trailer for All Is Lost has landed and it is easy to see in the few minutes that are shown, why the film made such a “splash” at Cannes. Redford stars as a man sailing his boat by himself when tragedy strikes and he’s alone, stranded and desperately floating across the ocean. Only an actor of Redford’s stature, like Tom Hanks in Cast Away, could pull off such a feat, and judging by the few minutes we see in the trailer below… he does that and so much more.

The film is written and directed by Oscar winner J.C. Chandor (Margin Call). Redford has said in the past that the film features him with little lines. Again, if anyone can achieve a drama full of power with little words… it’s a legend like Robert Redford.

All Is Lost lands in theaters October 18. It’s nice to see Redford in two movies within a year. The actor was most recently seen in The Company You Keep and for someone who has not worked much of late… for fans such as us, it is pure joy.
