Filmmaker Spike Jonze is known for pushing the visual envelope with his stories and has cultivated a huge fan following since his days making music videos for the Beastie Boys and Weezer. His latest, Her, lands in November and its first trailer has premiered.
Her stars Joaquin Phoenix (most recently seen in The Master), himself a cinematic renegade, as a man who is on the lonelier side of the spectrum. When he gets a new “operating system” that is custom made to his particular life, it is voiced by Scarlett Johansson and suddenly, Phoenix’s life has new meaning. He may even be… falling in love with her.
Her has also released the film’s first poster (below) and it recalls the visual wizardry of past Jonze efforts, such as Where the Wild Things Are and Adaptation. Jonze’s latest film also features Amy Adams (Man of Steel) and Rooney Mara.
