Wizard of OZ 3D Featurette: How They Did It

by at . Comments

How does one take an American classic and bring it to life in the most vivid and astounding of ways? A new featurette released to celebrate the arrival of The Wizard of Oz in IMAX 3D tells us exactly how. The Wizard of Oz hits IMAX 3D screens September 20, and judging by the response to The Wizard of Oz IMAX 3D trailer, audiences cannot wait.

The film will be in those 300 IMAX theaters for only a one-week run. The Wizard of Oz is the oldest film ever to be converted to 3D and IMAX 3D. The team at Warner Bros. who undertook this endeavor spent 16 months working on the effort, knowing that a beloved classic of American film would be highly scrutinized if it was not an impeccable transfer.

That’s why they devoted over 1,000 people to the effort and the proof is in the pudding when it lands back in theaters, where it belongs, September 20.
