Daniel Radcliffe on Being Igor in a Different Frankenstein

Daniel Radcliffe will soon be seen onscreen, teased in the Kill Your Darling trailer. It is a role that finds Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg and it is unlike anything you’ve seen him do before. Radcliffe has to be given mad credit as he is forging a career as a mature actor that has us forgetting (or at least putting it in the past) that he was Harry Potter.

Radcliffe is excited, and so is Movie Fanatic, for his role as Igor in the upcoming version of Frankenstein, due October 17, 2014, that is being written by Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis.

"[Landis] has taken the mythologies that we all think we know," Radcliffe said to Sirius XM recently. "We have this idea of a monster and a crazy scientist and kind of a hunchbacked assistant -- but we don't really know where all these parts came from."

The former Harry Potter reported that he appreciates that for the first time, we get a feeling where this Igor character has come from, other than merely being a pop culture stalwart with no real history behind him.

"I think what Max has done with this is first of all he's given Igor a backstory which you never really see before. And so, that’s I think one of the biggest differences is that you'll finally see him granted a life and a backstory and it's about these two young guys at the forefront of science," he added.
