There is absolutely no question who will rule the weekend box office this weekend, especially with the fast start Catching Fire had with Thursday night showings. But, it is not the only film opening wide this weekend. Our weekend movie preview looks at The Hunger Games sequel, but also the latest charmer, Delivery Man, starring Vince Vaughn.
Catching Fire: The sequel to The Hunger Games is a stunner, and even a bigger cinematic achievement than the first film. As our Catching Fire review states, Jennifer Lawrence excels as Katniss, and fans of the series could not have asked for a better actress to embody their heroine. The cast grows, with new additions Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone and Jeffrey Wright bringing their A-game. It is a supremely awesome film and a can't-miss for fans of the Suzanne Collins book series, and movie fanatics alike.
Delivery Man: Vaughn digs deep as a man who discovers his fertility donations decades ago have resulted in 533 children. When a lawsuit threatens to rip away his confidentiality clause, he goes through a moral dilemma as to whether he wants... and maybe even needs, to know his kids. Cobie Smulders stars as Vaughn's long-suffering girlfriend (who herself is pregnant), and Chris Pratt steals scenes as Vaughn's BFF and lawyer. The remake of the French Canadian smash Starbuck hits many high notes, as our Delivery Man review reports.
