Blues Brothers Mall Chase Scene: Done with Legos!

by at .  Updated at . Comments

One of the most iconic scenes in the legendary movie that is The Blue Brothers is that chase scene through a suburban Chicago mall. Who could forget John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd speeding through a shopping center with complete disregard for human safety, all while providing a commentary on what’s cool and new at the mall?!

An Australian Lego builder, Bricktease founder Duncan McConchie, was so taken with that scene that he replicated it with the little brick-based toys, and he's taken the action sequence of Jake and Elwood eluding the law to a whole new level. The dialogue is the same. The music is the same. It’s just… well, take a look!

McConchie reported that it took between eight to ten hours to piece together the almost 2500 photos it took to create the video. And while you’re in the mood, check out our The Blues Brothers quotes to remind yourself what a classic the John Landis film is.

The Blues Brothers Quotes

Elwood: This is definitely Lower Wacker Drive! If my estimations are correct, we should be very close to the Honorable Richard J. Daley Plaza!
Jake: That's where they got that Picasso.
Elwood: Yep.

So, Jake, you're out, you're free, you're rehabilitated. What's next? What's happenin'? What you gonna do? You got the money you owe us, motherfucker?
