Frozen Exclusive: Filmmakers Discuss Disney Record Breaker

by at . Comments

Frozen broke box office records with its debut and clearly the aspirations of co-director Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho were achieved.

When we met the duo in New York recently to talk about their hopes and dreams for the latest Disney film starring Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, it was clear their hearts were firmly in the right place when it came to what audiences wanted out of the instant Disney classic (check out our Frozen review for more).

Del Vecho quoted Disney head John Lassiter and his comparison to Frozen being like a Christmas present. Now, the world has opened it to great joy! “It’s like we have this perfect present that we have for everyone. But, we can’t quite give it to them yet. We know once they open it, they’re going to love it,” Del Vecho said. And love it they have!

Lee and Del Vecho also dish about what songs are their favorite in a soundtrack that has so many fantastic tracks.

“Each song we like for different reasons,” Del Vecho said. He then commented on the track that is sure to garner Oscar love, as well as being fitting considering how these filmmakers have now let their movie out into the world. “One of the songs that resonated with us early on is Elsa’s song Let it Go.”

Lee admitted that they had to reinvent the first act to “earn that song.”
