T. Bone Burnett knows all too well how musically attuned the Coen brothers are. He’s worked with them on countless occasions, most famously on O Brother Where Art Thou? creating that unforgettable soundtrack.
Burnett is back with them again in another musically themed film, Inside Llewyn Davis, and we caught up with the Oscar winner for an exclusive video interview to ask him what it's like for such an accomplished musician and songwriter to work with such musically inclined filmmakers?
“It’s like being in a group with Billy Wilder and John Ford or something,” Burnett said and smiled. “Each of them is a great director. So, you have these two powerful people who are not at odds. That is what is amazing about it. Also, there’s a deep history in every shot."
As seen in the Inside Llewyn Davis trailer, the film is the story of the title character, played astonishingly by Oscar Isaac. He is a talented, but frustrated, folk musician working the legendary music scene of early 1960s Greenwich Village. Burnett crafted a slew of original songs for the film that should easily add up to another Oscar nod for the man who already has a golden trophy!
