The teaser trailer for the latest from Christopher Nolan -- Interstellar -- has debuted, starring Matthew McConaughey. The movie’s release date of November 7, 2014 is almost a year away, so Nolan is not going to give away too much. This first look embodies the description “teaser!”
It features McConaughey’s character in a monologue describing our country’s desire for pursuing greatness and overcoming adversity to triumph where only despair was thought possible. He specifically, later, is speaking about the U.S. space program, and how, even though the Space Shuttle has been a retired program, we are “still pioneers.” Our future is “still above us.” Meanwhile, Nolan gives us a shot of McConaughey driving through a cornfield… tears welling in his eyes.
Interstellar also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck , Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Topher Grace, Michael Caine and Matt Damon. Its synopsis describes the film as following a group of explorers who find a wormhole in the universe that allows us to travel great distances. I sense an exploratory theme here. Nice fit for Nolan after his The Dark Knight trilogy.
