George Clooney’s The Monuments Men has released a new trailer with a classic newsreel feel to it to promote his World War II true story. The Monuments Men tells the story of a military unit brought together for one purpose and one purpose only: To salvage Europe’s great cultural artifacts before the Nazis destroy them in the closing days of the war.
The Monuments Men was originally slated for release this month, but due to special effects concerns director Clooney had for the film, he pushed the release date back to February 7, 2014 to complete the shots for maximum authenticity.
Clooney directs and also stars in an ensemble cast that includes Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Cate Blanchett and Hugh Bonneville.
The latest The Monuments Men trailer also announces the establishment of a viral site designed to “support” the work these real life heroes did to protect our society’s greatest works of art. It can be checked out at SupportTheMonumentsMen.com.
