Need for Speed Featurette: Building Super Cars
by Joel D Amos at . Updated at . CommentsGiven the nature of how director Scott Waugh wanted to not use CG to create his speed demons in Need for Speed, someone had to create the state-of-the-art cars that the rich and powerful drive for his film. That effort was handled by creating imitations of the world’s fastest and most expensive cars that could be used functionally in his film.
Walt Disney and DreamWorks have released a behind-the-scenes featurette that takes us behind the wheel of how they achieved that feat.
As we explored in our Need for Speed interview with Aaron Paul, the actor and Waugh both commented on how the stars needed to drive real cars for the action to feel as real as possible. Movie Fanatic previously featured an Aaron Paul goes to driving school feature that further showcased that effort.
If you have a Need for Speed, this is the movie for you. Look for it in theaters March 14.
